Slicked Silhouette

Water+ R and Co Wall St Strong Hold Gel= Slicked Silhouette

Early on in my career I got to assist and learn from an amazing hairdresser, Nick Irwin, who does a lot of wet looks for his editorial work (he works side by side with the famous fashion photographer, Rankin, and you can find their work in every major fashion magazine, as well as one of my favorites, Hunger). When I found out our next photoshoot for Local Honey was all about wet hair looks, i was instantly inspired.

I wanted to challenge myself, and create something that was unconventional, yet sophisticated. My model, Bella, has amazing, thick straight hair. On wet hair, i combed Wall St Strong Hold Gel by R+Co in small diagonal sections, smoothing it down to the shape of her head and neck, to create a strong silhouette. I set her fringe with the same gel, but combed it loosely, so it would dry with some wet looking texture, to contrast from the smooth silhouette. At the end of the shoot we loosened up the look with the help of Local Honey's Creative Director, Brian Hickman. All-in-all, it took an hour to create, but was so worth it for these images. Big thanks to Dylan Reyes for the amazing images, and Balee Greer for this kick-ass styling.
